Our field exploration at the ponds today was invigorating for our bodies and our minds. We discovered many producers (plants), in various stages of decomposition. We were caught a glimpse of a consumer in the ecosystem. Can you guess which one? It was a beaver slicing through the icy water in the pond. The iPads were a great tool for zooming into species.
Thank you so much to our parent volunteers for joining us, we couldn't have gone without you!
Here are some photos of our journey, have a look and see if you can identify any of the species of plants.

Here are some of our observations, questions and inferences from the trip:
More plant connections this afternoon when students practiced their log rolls for gymnastics.
Great collaborative teamwork to return the mats to the storage room.
In math we worked on another Problem called Sporty Choices -- ask your child what the word difference means.

Our vocabulary word of the day was native, as in native plant species. "an original plant or animal in a location." An indigenous species. We were hoping to find our provincial flower the wild rose, but we didn't spot it today.
