Frayer Models for Vocabulary Building

The Frayer Model is a graphic organizer for building student vocabulary. This technique requires students to define target vocabulary and apply their knowledge by generating examples and non-examples, giving characteristics, and/or drawing a picture to illustrate the meaning of the word.

For our Science unit Waste in Our World the top five vocabulary words we have been focusing on are reduce, reuse, recycle, landfill and decomposers.  These five words are the foundational words for understanding the creation and impact of human waste versus natural waste.
